Before you buy
- All sales are final. If we ever remove a feature you pay for, you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your current period.
- Every export carries a credit. On every plan, the font’s file information says “Made with Letterhead.”
- Letterhead Editorial is based on Spectral by Production Type. Fonts made from it stay under the SIL Open Font License on any plan.
- Founding leaves out team seats, hosting your fonts for websites, typefaces by outside designers, fees on a marketplace if we open one, custom design or support work, printed products and fonts sold in the shop.
- Fonts from the shop aren’t part of any plan. They come with the Letterhead Font License.

Questions people ask
- Can I get a refund?
- All sales are final, except where the law requires otherwise. If something isn’t working, email hello@lhtype.com and we’ll work with you to sort it out. If we ever take away a feature you pay for, we’ll tell you first, and you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your current period.
- Can I sell the fonts I make?
- On any paid plan, yes. The font files you design and download are yours to use in any project, give away, license and sell, including selling the fonts themselves. Free downloads are for personal, noncommercial use only. Fonts made from Letterhead Editorial stay under the SIL Open Font License, so you can use them commercially but can’t sell the font files on their own.
- What do I have to credit?
- Every font you download carries a short note in its file information: “Made with Letterhead.” If you sell or give away a font, keep that note in the files and put “Made with Letterhead” in the license you give the people who get it. You don’t need it on your product pages, your designs or anywhere the font is used.
- What is Founding?
- A one time payment of $149 for Pro for as long as Letterhead runs. It’s offered to the first 149 buyers and won’t be sold again. It’s for one person and can’t be transferred or shared. It doesn’t include team seats, hosting your fonts for websites, typefaces by outside designers, marketplace fees, custom work, printed products or fonts from the shop. If Letterhead ever shuts down, you get at least 60 days’ notice to download your work, and Founding isn’t refunded.
- Can I start free and upgrade later?
- Yes. Make your font on Free, and when you want to use it commercially, upgrade from the editor and download it again. The new download carries the commercial license.
- What happens to my fonts if I cancel Pro?
- You can cancel any time from the editor: open your account menu and choose Billing and receipts. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Fonts you already downloaded keep the license they had when you downloaded them.
- Does One Custom Font cover more than one font?
- It covers the one font family your purchase is used on. For another font, buy another One Custom Font, or go Pro for as many as you want.
